Sook-Yin Lee is a musician, filmmaker and multimedia artist based in Toronto. Her upcoming album, 72RHR, out on May 29/26 on Hand Drawn Dracula, continues her exploration of progressive electronic music and poetic-pop. The band features Lee on vocals and tech, and Dylan Gamble (of Hot Garbage) on guitar. 72RHR is composed, performed, engineered, recorded, and produced by Sook-Yin Lee, mixed by Steve Chahley (US Girls, Vallens, Young Guv) and mastered by Kevin McPhee. Lee's latest movie, which she directed, co-wrote, and co-scored, the Canadian Screen Award-winning PAYING FOR IT, was selected as one of Canada's Top Ten Films. Her songs have been covered by Neko Case, and featured in Brandon Cronenberg’s horror movies INFINITY POOL and ANTIVIRAL. Growing up in Vancouver's influential art-punk scene, Lee has played in myriad bands, with experimental legends CCMC, and she opened for Nick Cave and African-American scholar and poet Fred Moten.
