Purple City Music Festival 2024 takes place September 6 - 8th in Edmonton / amiskwaciwâskahikan. Curating the newest sounds from the global underground, this diverse & inclusive festival is entirely All Ages/Licensed. Tamaryn
Tamaryn is a songwriter known for her unique blend of shoegaze, dream pop, and electronic music. Her atmospheric yet powerful sound and distinctive voice have earned her critical acclaim and a dedicated following. In 2024, she is touring with her original band lineup, and including guitarist Rex John Shelverton, and will be performing songs from her entire catalogue, including the American shoegaze classic album "The Waves."
Verttigo
VERTTIGO is a Canadian dream pop project based in Edmonton, AB. Drawing influences from new wave and shoegaze artists of the 80s & 90s, VERTTIGO has carved out a niche all their own. Led by charismatic vocalist Karímah, VERTTIGO’s live show has been described as “enchanted”, “magnetic”, and “haunting”. Aesthetically, VERTTIGO is inspired by the darker side of the human condition and reflects on the notion that collectively we are in a constant spiral of love, death, loss, and rebirth… we are living in vertigo. Bands that are comparable stylistically include: Alvvays, Slowdive, Cocteau Twins, and Beach House. Notable festival acts include: a debut performance alongside headliners A Place To Bury Strangers & ACTORS at Purple City Music Fest 2022 (Edmonton), Verboden Music Festival 2023 (Vancouver), Winterruption Festival 2023 (Edmonton), JUNOfest 2023 (Edmonton), Cherry Cult Fest 2023 (Edmonton), and Big Winter Classic Fest 2024 (Calgary). Tebby & the Heavy
Tebby & The Heavy are a rock band formed in 2022 from Edmonton, Alberta. The trio blends a heavy wall of sound influenced by psychedelia and shoegaze, the playfulness of surf and sardonic temperament of grunge. Their notable shows include supporting Osees, L.A. Witch, Ringo Deathstarr, Frankie & The Witch Fingers, and Starcrawler. Three of their singles have been released on all streaming platforms and they will release their first EP in fall of 2024.
Blume
Edmonton based artist Blume has been creating hazy psychedelic music since 2015, using layers of reverb covered guitars, synths, and samples to create his sound. Blending ambient textures and experimental sounds with beats, repeating bass lines, and guitars, Blume creates a sound of neo-psychedelia that is equally home with the sound of psych-pop as it is with the more obscure.
