He started his career at the age of 15 and although he wasn’t allowed to be in the club legally, he still managed to secure a residency at ‚Douala’, one of South Germany’s most famous underground techno club. Marten first gained international attention when German Elektro originator Westbam labeled him ‚the new wonder kid of bass music.’
Since then, he’s donned the hat of both DJ and producer, releasing a crate-load of music to critical acclaim. His first ever solo release ‚LGFU’ earned him two international Breakspoll Awards for Best Single and Producer of the year. Never one to stop, after ‚LGFU’, Marten continued to drop singles and remixes on labels like ‚Instant Vibes’, „Crispy Crust” his new Home ‚Punks Music’, and ‚Central Sation Records’ in Australia (the latter being nominated for ‚Video of the Year’ at the international Bassmusic awards).
In the following years Marten developed from a scene hero into a global tastemaker and managed to find his very own sound somewhere between Bass, House, HipHop, Trap, Elektro and Broken Beat.
Today his Music can be heard all over TV & Cinema as well as Radio one, Beats One and in the DJ Sets of artists like Diplo, A-Trak, Stanton Warriors and many more.
He’s played DJ gigs everywhere from Beirut to Budapest and Ibiza to Siberia. It’s easy to see why he’s beloved by DJ’s and fans everywhere. With over a dozen North American and Australian tours, playing festivals like Shambhala, Kazantip, Mayday, Breakfest, Snowbombing, and Love Parade (R.I.P.), as well as residencies all over the world.
In addition to his solo projects, Marten is also one half of the duo SMASH HIFI, along with ex-Prodigy member Leeroy Thornhill. In march last they released their first EP which led them to inking a deal with BMG. SMASH HIFI’s full length album is currently in the making.
As a DJ & producer, Marten has achieved what seems to be so elusive in today’s music landscape: he’s carved out a lane of his own and he’s driving in it without limits.
He toured extensively this past year, culminating in an incredible series of festival dates. Brazil’s Universo Paralello, Tribaltech 2012, and D-Edge Sao Paulo were highlights of his South American tour, while stateside he tore up Burning Man 2012 and a series of gigs in California. Back in Canada, he played nine festivals, including Shambhala, Astral Harvest, Bass Coast, Sync, Bushwacked, Kootenanny, Tall Tree Music Festival, and The Kulth. In addition to playing primarily original productions, remixes, and edits, Neighbour has been known to play live synthesizer and electric guitar alongside his legendary DJ sets, which range from no-nonsense electric funk bangers to gorgeous technicolor remixes of classic garage, disco, and house music.
Recent projects include producing and mastering an album for Rob Garza of Thievery Corporation, a new round of tunes with longtime collaborator MC Thinktank, a full length album with his band Red Light Quadrant, and a series of dubs produced for East Vancouver afrobeat band Miami Device.
Ever evolving and deeply committed to the science of good sound, Neighbour’s approach to dance music has universal appeal.
On his anticipated second album, Good Deeds, EVeryman has deftly followed up his breakthrough debut with thirteen scorching new tracks that find the versatile MC dropping his razor-sharp rhymes over a kaleidoscope of beats from some of the brightest producers in bass music. Good Deeds fuses the conscious “Golden Era” hip hop EVeryman was raised on with the future funk he now mixes up during his DJ sets, to create a collection of his most personal songs to date that will have you rocking with him from start to finish.
Good Deeds comes one year after the tragic and sudden passing of EVeryman’s best friend and Little Giants partner, Nicholas “Pumpkin” Alvarado, and is dedicated in his honor. Executive producer Logan “Lowgritt” Gritton has joined with EVeryman and some of the finest beatsmiths who each contribute smoked-out BPMs that EVeryman effortlessly flows over with expert precision. On “Push It Along”, the thunderously funky first single from Good Deeds, EVeryman delivers some of his most ferocious lyrics yet over a propulsive beat from Squachek that will have both transformational festival crowds and hip hop aficionados throwing their hands in the air.
EVeryman is adapt at delivering compelling story-telling and on Good Deeds he takes aim at a broken political system and rallies the next generation to rise up while still mixing in plenty of the playful nostalgia, biting humor, deep thoughts and the unshakeable optimism that have captivated audiences around the world. From the moment the sublime opening prologue, “Good Deeds (Part I)” kicks off, it’s clear that this albums marks a sonic shift in EVeryman’s sound. The track pairs him with the enchanting vocals of Kat Factor, who serves as the album’s melodic muse as she appears an additional three tracks. Other stand-out features include notable guest verses from some of the City of Angel’s best underground MCs Like Joe Con. Canadian Rapper Emotionz, makes a guest appearance on the Dillaesque Beat "I'll Always Love H.E.R." by Toronto producer Fresh Fils. Jackson Whelan, Truth Now, Michael Wilbur and the late Sean Bryne, all drop thought provoking verses together for the song, "Five Wits".
Pumpkin’s presence is especially felt on “We’re Being Followed”, a previously unreleased instrumental track that EVeryman completed by adding some poignant vocal samples from Charlie Chaplin. It’s a a touching moment on Good Deeds and a reminder that Pumpkin had an ear for crafting memorable melodies like no other.

Good Deeds will be released on March 25, 2017 through Little Giant Acorn Records, which was set up by EVeryman as a way to continue to honor Pumpkin and a portion of all sales will go directly to help The Little Giant Acorn Foundation for The Arts, a non-profit that helps children get started in music or the performing arts who otherwise could not afford to do so.
The stunning album artwork comes from Sydwox, who painted a touching tribute piece entitled, “Pumpkin Forever”, that is the perfect visual accompaniment to the music on Good Deeds.
Having recently wrapped the sold-out Hearts of Funk Canadian Tour with Fort Knox Recording artist, QDup, you can get down with EVeryman as he embarks on his own Good Deeds tour throughout 2017. Armed with his live MC set up as well as fresh remixes from the album that are exclusive weapons for his beloved DJ sets, EVeryman is ready to change the game.

EVeryman's debut EP which sees the versatile vocalist seamlessly fuses his love for both hip-hop and electronic music. After making his debut with producer, Nick “Pumpkin” Alvarado, as part of their collaborative hip-hop group, Little Giants, on EVeryman’s first solo foray, “Speak the Speech,” he collaborates with some of electronic music’s top young producers to deliver some of his best work to date. On the triumphant opener, “To Be or Not to Be,” EVeryman sets the tone early by getting down over Connect the Dot’s futuristic, G-Funk flavored breakbeats, before teaming with Headtron music producer, Stephan Jacobs on the sublime, “Summer Firefly.” EVeryman also teams to great effect with fellow Los Angeles-based vocalist, J Brave, as the two trade socially conscious barbs on “Divine Grind,” which boasts Sugarpill’s signature style of sonic grooves.

EVeryman has found a true kindred spirit in Alvarado, and after the two collaborated on the hit single ‘Good Day,’ for Pumpkin’s debut ‘Love Letters’ EP, the duo released the popular, ‘EVery Summer’ mixtape, which spawned their new hip hop group Little Giants, an inspired throwback to the vintage beats the pair grew up on. Little Giants released their debut album, ‘Don’t Quit’ in the Winter of 2013. EVeryman's solo album, 'Speak The Speech,' was released in the summer of 2013. The album features track collaborations and production by Goldrush, Stephan Jacobs, The Service Lab, BSTEE, Connect The Dots, and Sugarpill
While many MCs merely chase fame, EVeryman always puts the music first and aims to connect with audiences through positivity rather than sticking with the status quo.
